Village of Berrien Springs
Full Time Public Works Position (including Shamrock Park)

 

In General, an employee in this ‘at-will’ position will hold general responsibility for the appearance and operation of the park/campground; care, maintenance and conditions of all village streets, alleys, parks, buildings, grounds vehicles, other department equipment and seasonally required tasks.  The person in this position must be able to work outdoors and do physical labor mowing and trimming lawns, emptying trash barrels, cleaning bathrooms, picking up litter, snow plowing and other similar work.  Must be able to operate heavy equipment in addition to push, garden mower or garden tractor mowers, weed eaters and other equipment in the course of the week.  Some general office work at Shamrock Park (answer phone, take messages, taking reservations, etc).  Communicating with the public by treating all equally in a friendly manner. 

 

This is a 40 hour per week full time position.  This “at-will” employee position will receive benefits in accordance with those provided to all full time employees of the Village of Berrien Springs

 

Must be a high school graduate, have a Commercial Drivers License, or be hired with the condition the applicant will obtain a CDL, have the ability to operate all department equipment and vehicles and have the physical ability to perform all required work tasks.

The Village of Berrien Springs is accepting applications, resume and letter of interest for the opening for a payroll/utility billing clerk.  Must have a high school diploma.  Accounting background with a minimum of two years previous payroll and computer experience is preferred.  Deadline is Friday, September 25, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.  Pay commensurate with experience, 35 hours per week, benefit package included.

BUILDING INSPECTOR/OFFICIAL/ZONING ADMINISTRATOR/PLAN REVIEWER

In General, an employee in this ‘at-will’ position will inspect new and existing structures for conformity with codes and ordinances.  Conduct construction plan review and on-site inspections of industrial, commercial and residential properties and determines and recommends corrective actions when appropriate.  Work cooperatively with other trade inspectors.  Advise and assist Zoning Board of Appeals.  Building Inspector needs to hold a general contractors license and be a registered code official certified by the state.

This part time position is a minimum of 3 hours per week.  This is a salaried position.
